Is the battlefield going to be taken over by killer robots?

Killer robots will be the big tool of future war? Will the war become fully automatic weapons? The answer to this question is not too difficult. Experts in the related fields are also concerned about the extent to which the emerging ‘killer robots’ will endanger human civilization.

Human civilization stands on the brink of a new war system. The rapid development of artificial intelligence is opening this new door. It has been seen that now the robot is able to penetrate the target perfectly. Humans themselves can decide to kill by automatically detecting them. These robot soldiers do not even need the guidance of a human officer to attack.

These weapons are officially called automatic weapons systems. But critics are calling it a ‘killer robot.’ The United States, China, the United Kingdom, India, Iran, Israel, South Korea, Russia and Turkey have invested heavily in the development of such weapons.
According to a UN report, the Kargu-2 drone made by Turkey is fully autonomous. In 2020, Libya was attacked with this drone.

Such automated drone manipulation is also seen in the Ukraine war. Both Moscow and Kiev continue to use unmanned weapons to destroy the enemy.

And analysts are becoming alarmed by such use of automatic weapons. Efforts are also being made to prevent such indiscriminate use of killer robots.

Many experts believe that robots should be stopped before they completely take over the battlefield. Or future wars will become more gruesome.

However, there is no sign of an end to the use of automatic weapons on the battlefield. On the contrary, the competition to discover and develop such weapons is increasing day by day.

Experts say this competition is making the situation more complicated. In the name of casualty reduction, the use of automatic weapons increases the scale of destruction. Human life is also under great threat.

Although there are small movements against ‘killer robots’ in different parts of the world, they are not really working. Organizations such as the United Nations are not as active in stopping the use of chemical weapons as they are in the case of automatic weapons.

Toby Walsh, an artificial intelligence expert at the University of South Wales in Sydney, said the issue is that algorithms are used in the car’s safety system to prevent it from crushing pedestrians. In contrast, the same algorithm is used in automated drones to detect targets and follow their movements, and it aims to kill people instead of avoiding accidents.

Therefore, he advised to use this technology for the welfare of people instead of destroying human civilization.
