This time, China has declared US memory chip giant Micron Technology as a risk to its national security.
China’s cyberspace regulator announced on Sunday that chips made by the US tech firm pose a serious risk to the security of its networks.
According to the BBC report, this announcement means that Beijing is moving to ban the company soon.
Washington has previously put several Chinese technology companies under sanctions and surveillance, but China has remained silent for a long time. Banning Micron would be a big step for China.
Washington has previously imposed several major sanctions targeting the Chinese chip market. As a result, the dominance of the American semiconductor sector in the world market has increased.
In a statement, China’s Cyberspace Authority said, “A review found that Micron’s products pose a serious network security risk.” As a result, China’s national security is facing a major risk.
However, the country’s cyber monitoring agency did not provide any detailed information about what kind of risk China is facing.
